Scope

This policy explains how Writer’s Desk for macOS handles information. Writer’s Desk is developed and published by Koltin Capps. This policy applies to the Writer’s Desk app and distinguishes the app from this public support website.

Data collection

Writer’s Desk does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal information, story content, project metadata, or usage information.

The app contains no account system, advertising, analytics, telemetry, tracking technology, or cloud service operated by Writer’s Desk or Koltin Capps.

Project files

Story plans, notes, characters, worldbuilding, links, project versions, and other planning records are stored in .wdesk project files that you create and control.

Writer’s Desk uses the macOS App Sandbox and accesses project files or export locations only when you select them through standard macOS document dialogs. Your Mac, backup provider, or storage location may process those files according to settings and services you choose independently of Writer’s Desk.

Imported images

Images you select are copied into the applicable Writer’s Desk project package. They are used for reference art and profile images inside that project. Writer’s Desk does not upload or transmit them.

Network access

Writer’s Desk does not require an internet connection and does not provide an app-operated network service. The app does not request a network-client sandbox entitlement.

Opening an external link, contacting support by email, using the Mac App Store, or storing a project with a third-party synchronization service occurs through software and services outside Writer’s Desk and is governed by their policies.

This support website

This public website is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub may process routine technical information, such as IP address, browser details, request time, and requested page, to deliver and secure the site. Koltin Capps does not add analytics, advertising pixels, cookies, or tracking scripts to this site.

When you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it only to respond, investigate the request, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Please do not send private story content unless you intentionally choose to share it.

Retention and deletion

Writer’s Desk does not receive or retain the projects stored on your Mac. You can delete those projects and imported images at any time using normal macOS file controls.

Support emails are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain an appropriate support record, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. You may ask us to delete personal information you intentionally submitted to support by emailing the address below. We will honor the request unless retention is required for a legitimate legal or security reason.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Writer’s Desk, legal requirements, or support practices change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page. A material change to the app’s data practices will also be reflected in its App Store privacy information.
